Darkness crept from my heart and killed my eyes.
Then I saw, but all I saw was dead.
I thought I'd destroyed the dark,
disarmed it,
but cunning me, I fooled myself instead.

Darkness shone from my eyes and killed my heart.
It still beat, but all it felt was dead.
I thought I'd destroyed the dark, disarmed it,
but found that I'd disarmed myself, instead.

Light shone from Your death and killed the darkness.
Now I feel, and all I feel is clear.
You nailed darkness to the tree,
disarmed it,
and as you planned, Your death is light to me.
